Go, Stand, Witness, Rejoice: A Close Reading of Acts 5:16-42

By Conrad Gempf

G’morning, I’m Conrad and I teach New Testament at London School of Theology. Our principal wanted us to do a series of sermons about the first Christians: what kind of a church they were and what kinds of activities their priorities led them to undertake.

If we understand what they were up to, it might give us better ideas about what we should be up to, because I have a feeling that they weren’t really so different than us.

I was assigned the task of looking at Acts 5:16-42 and how the church reacted to persecution; this recording is what I came up with.
